Biography

The catalyst for Stephen Borko’s artistic career came through collecting art in numerous media, from prints and paintings to ceramics and sculpture, all of which shaped his tendency to want to capture his view of the world around him. His photographs have been exhibited in Washington, DC, New York, Baltimore, Northern Virginia and Annapolis, MD since 2004. Borko is a member of the Ward-Nasse Gallery in New York City, the Washington Project for the Arts in Washington, DC and the Affiliate Artist at Washington Artworks in Rockville, MD.

Artist Statement

In my photographs I try to capture the essence of how I experience the places I visit – landscapes on and off the beaten path, people who reside in these places, and the man-made additions to these landscapes.

Stephen Borko’s photographs are printed by Adamson Editions in Washington, DC, one of the most highly regarded digital printmakers in U.S, Europe and Asia. High resolution pigment prints are created by spraying micro drops of archival pigment dyes onto the surface of a coated paper resulting in broader tonal range and saturation and longer-lasting color.
